What is Doula Match Birth doula OKC

What is Doula Match & how can you use it?

I am so glad you have found my website! Depending on where you are located, I may or may not be able to support your as your birth, bereavement, or postpartum doula. If you are interested in seeing if I am the doula for you, we can book a free consult Here

But what if you live too far to hire me as a doula but you are in search of a doula?

Doula Match is a fantastic tool for families looking for the perfect doula for their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience.
For an example of what a doula’s profile will look like, you can check mine out here

You can make an account as an expecting parent and search for doulas local to you. Each doula’s profile will show you the city they serve, their service range, whether they provide birth and/or postpartum services, and their certifications and experience.  You can also find out if a particular doula is open to supporting home birth, hospital birth, birth center births, or all birth locations.

The doula’s profile will also show you what they specialize in. For instance, my account will tell you that I offer the following special services to families in my community!

Baby wearing education

Cloth diapering education

LGBTQIA+ Support

Military families support

Sibling support (for your older children at the birth)

Surrogates and intended parents

Virtual and remote doula support

After you have found a couple of doulas you think would be a good match for your family, you can set up interviews to meet them.

As always, be cautious in meeting strangers on the internet. I personally meet my potential doula clients at my office space at Thrive Mama Collective so everyone feels secure in meeting. The doula you are interviewing may also be able to meet you in their office space. If not, it is not uncommon for doulas to meet potential clients at coffee shops, library meeting rooms, and other public areas. Due to Covid, a lot of doulas are now able to meet via Zoom or Facetime! I have met with all of my own clients in 2021 via Zoom and it has gone great.

A lot of people will suggest you interview multiple doulas. This is great advice! Especially if it is your first time meeting a birth worker at all. Sometimes people do just ‘click’ with their doula when they meet too! Just like everything else in life, people do things differently, and thats okay!

& there you have it! There is a quick run down on Doula Match and how you can use it to find a wonderful doula to add to your birth team! I hope that this was a quick and helpful guide to the Doula Match tool and I am wishing you all the success in finding the perfect doula to support your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey.
